Gardening for a mountain climate
Gardening in the Blue Mountains isn't like gardening in Sydney. Our service area climbs from about 20 metres on the Hawkesbury river flats to over 1,000 metres in Katoomba and Blackheath. Along the way, frost gets heavier, lawns change from kikuyu to fescue, and the growing season gets shorter.
We plan every garden around that. Mowing heights go up before winter, pruning is timed to miss the frosts, and new plants are chosen to suit each block's altitude, aspect and soil.
Fire-aware by habit
Most of our customers live on bushfire-prone land. Clearing leaf litter, gutters and fine fuels is part of how we look after every garden, not an extra. Before each fire season we help local homes get ready with targeted bushfire clean-ups.
Looking after the bush too
The Blue Mountains is surrounded by the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. We remove garden weeds like privet, broom, blackberry and cotoneaster before they spread, and recommend plants that stay in the garden where they belong.
