Why gutters matter so much up here
In a bushfire, embers can travel well ahead of the fire front. Dry leaves in gutters are an easy place for them to land and ignite, right at the edge of your roof. The NSW Rural Fire Service lists cleaning gutters as one of the key jobs to do before every fire season.
The rest of the year, blocked gutters overflow in heavy rain. Water can run down walls, into eaves and under floors, and soggy leaf matter rusts metal gutters from the inside.
How often to clean gutters in the Blue Mountains
- Before fire season (late winter to early spring): the most important clean of the year.
- Mid-summer: eucalypts shed bark and leaves through summer.
- After autumn leaf drop: essential if you have deciduous trees nearby, common in Leura, Katoomba and Blackheath.
Homes close to bushland or under big trees may need cleaning three or four times a year.
Safe access
We work from ladders on single-storey homes and accessible roofs. For steep, high or fragile roofs we'll tell you honestly if the job needs specialist roof-access equipment.

Gutter Cleaning: common questions
How much does gutter cleaning cost?
Cost depends on the length of gutters, roof height and pitch, and how full they are. Combining gutter cleaning with a garden or bushfire clean-up usually works out cheaper than separate visits. Call for a free quote.
Do you install gutter guards?
We focus on cleaning and garden work. If you're considering gutter guards, look for products suited to bushfire-prone areas and installed to the relevant standard.
When should I get my gutters cleaned?
At least once before each bush fire danger period, and again after autumn leaf fall if you have deciduous trees nearby.
